Easter 2013

Every year I gather up some adorable real baby chicks, tiny newborn ducklings and sweet baby bunnies for my Easter sessions. Rather than pose them with the little kids I instead have the kids interact with them. They get to hold them, cuddle them, pick them up and kiss them (yes I said kiss them). These are always so much fun and do my most work through the whole year with these sessions.
This year though was different, the cold got to us all. It was freezing outside and snowy half the week. I had them two weeks and  I believe we got two good days of portraits and that was it. So sadly there wasn't as many beautiful portraits to share. Next year I am hoping that the cold weather goes away fast so we can have a beautiful spring. These were done the end of March and they were so much fun. I don't do a lot of props it's more about capturing the interaction and expressions of the kids. Here is an assortment of the photos I took this Easter of the kids as well as the little video I put together. I just wish so much it had been nicer and more green outside.

Braving the chilly weather....

This gorgeous momma has had sessions with me a few times before. I always love how they are up for anything and are always laughing and joking with each other. The girls truly love each other and it's fun watching them grow up over the years. I am always so thankful to take their beautiful portraits.

A realization

Sometimes it is the moments in life that are so precious we forget how quickly they pass us by. I realized that today while talking with my kids. It seems as though yesterday my youngest was just a little toddler running around and speaking in a loud high pitch minnie mouse voice.  I miss their chubby little hands gripping my fingers or how they'd laugh at peek a boo. I long for the moments when they called my name because they wanted a hug or a kiss rather than to get money or tatle on each other.

I started photography to capture those beautiful moments I might miss with my kids but the sad reality is as they have gotten older I have spent less time capturing those moments with them and more with other people's children. Looking back I used to do portraits every day with my girls but now we are lucky if it's once every few months. I am setting a new goal to make sure to capture as many special moments as possible of my girls.
